Position Summary

The Department of Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS) at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, seeks to enhance the quality of life for individuals across the lifespan within their diverse and changing relationships, families, social networks, and communities in varying contexts through (1) exceptional research and scholarship, (2) outstanding teaching and mentoring to prepare the next generation of professionals, and (3) active community engagement and intervention.

HDFS is currently seeking qualified candidates to consider for an Administrative Support Associate position.

This position will be the first contact for early care and education programs wanting to access services from the EQuIPD (Education, Quality Improvement, and Professional Development) project in Guilford county.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide customer service with responses to telephone inquiries from the public and direct all inquiries to appropriate resources
  • Provide factual or procedural information related to the EQuIPD activities
  • Serve as a knowledgeable project resource to community teaches, directors, etc on the project
  • Work with all EQUIPD staff, Principal Investigators (Project Advisors) and Project Coordinator to ensure overall functioning of the project
  • Coordinate record-keeping for all domains of the project and assists domain coordinators in tracking information about their part of the project. Create monthly reports on all aspects of the project. Develop reports on status of licensed child care facilities in the county. Conduct web-searches for any needed information for the project. Create needed forms for aspects of the project.
  • Update/maintain spreadsheets on trainings we have provided
  • Assist with evaluation data collection for the Quality Enhancement domain. Evaluation procedures will include setting up mechanisms for record keeping for this component of the project.
  • Assist domain coordinators with ensuring all the parts of the work gets done, assist domain coordinators in training initiatives, and assist with gathering information for project reports.
  • Assist with event planning and coordination of events and trainings across the county. Tasks include finding meeting spaces, presenters, advertising events, registering participants, copying and entering evaluations and information into database.
  • Conduct assessments of the learning environments and provide support and planning to address learning environment concerns in community child care facilities.
  • Compile information and help process other reports as needed.
  • Update/maintain spreadsheets on inventory for fixed assets and insurance purposes. Maintain adequate levels of office supplies. Determine best pricing, place orders using university purchasing card, and send paperwork on for payment. Process paperwork for items sent to surplus.

Minimum Qualifications

HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR EQUIVALENCY; OR DEMONSTRATED POSSESSION OF THE COMPETENCIES NECESSARY TO PERFORM THE WORK.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree
• Significant knowledge of Microsoft suite, EXCEL, WORD, etc.
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills
• Ability to collect, organize and disseminate program information.
• Ability to generate standard accurate reports in a timely manner
• Ability to use applicable technology, web based systems and programs
• Experience with UNCG and compliance with budgetary regulations
• Knowledge of the Environment Rating Scales (ERS)

Alternate Option

If no applicants apply who meet the required competency level and training & experience requirements, then management may consider other applicants. Salary would be determined based on competencies, equity, budget, and market considerations.
