Position Summary

The Office of Alumni Engagement is currently seeking an energetic and entrepreneurial individual to plan, manage, and execute meaningful programs for our alumni network and affinity activities. This person must effectively identify, organize and execute a vast array of programs that will enliven, engage and positively impact partnerships with our alumni. This individual will also be responsible for supporting and stewarding annual alumni gifts as they relate to their specific alumni programs.

The Associate Director reports to the Director of Alumni Engagement and is a member of the team responsible for supporting the University’s network of 122,000 alumni. Over 77,000 alumni reside within 100 miles of the UNCG campus.

Duties and Responsibilities include:
• Managing, planning, and executing alumni network and affinity group programming and events.
• Preparing event briefing materials for Chancellor, Vice Chancellor, and Alumni Association Executive Director.
• Recruiting and managing volunteers who serve as UNCG ambassadors, advocates, donors and supporters.
• Identifying and qualifying alumni prospects in the region to support the University’s annual giving programs.
• Managing a number of alumni networks and affinity programs in the region.

Currently there are 6 formal UNCG Regional Alumni networks, the largest being in the Triad area.

The Associate Director will work with a diverse group of alumni, keeping them engaged in the life of the University through face-to-face visits. This position serves as a primary liaison between the Advancement Division, the UNCG Alumni Association, Alumni Relations and the Alumni Clubs.

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree required with related experience; specific minimum experience standards are at the discretion of the Department Head based on hiring market conditions and accepted professional standards of practice within the field. For positions with responsibility for direct solicitation of gifts and funds, a minimum of 1 year of professional-level, direct solicitation/fundraising experience is required.
• Must be able to work some weekends and limited travel as required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all levels of people internal and external to the University, including working effectively in a university advancement setting;
• Experience with program design and implementation and leading teams to desired results;
• Experience with volunteer recruitment and management with the ability to persuade, motivate, and influence others;
• Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with alumni, prospects and donors;
• A self-confident, self-motivated, and extroverted style that can enliven, engage and positively impact individuals and groups is essential;
• Fast-paced and results oriented with the ability to work in a timely manner with multiple deadlines and competing requirements;
• An entrepreneurial disposition or background is desirable to develop, implement, and evaluate new strategies, programs, and procedures; strong oral, written communication and presentation skills.
• At least one-year of experience using University Advancement Banner
• Demonstrated experience working with board of directors for a non-profit.
