Position Summary

The University of North Carolina at Greensboro School of Music is currently seeking qualified candidates to consider for the role of Business Officer. Bachelor’s degree, experience working in an academic environment, Banner experience, and accounting background are preferred. Functions assigned to the Business Officer role include financial management, purchasing, providing backup for College of Visual and Performing Arts Business Officer, and duties relating to personnel administration and payroll.

1. Prepare monthly and annual financial reports
2. Serve as liaison between the School of Music and other areas (university and public administrative offices)
3. Oversee financial operations and administration for the School of Music
4. Provide backup assistance for the Dean and the School of Music’s HR actions (EPAFs, PD7s, time entry for payroll)
5. Manage and improve business processes and operations by ensuring continuity, integration of policies and procedures with the organization’s mission and strategic plan
6. Develop long and short-term goals and objectives to support efficient and compliant business functions

Minimum Qualifications

BACHELOR’S DEGREE IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION, PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION, OR RELATED BUSINESS AREA; OR EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE. ALL DEGREES MUST BE RECEIVED FROM APPROPRIATELY ACCREDITED INSTITUTIONS.

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT:
1) Conduct financial management responsibilities in an organization primarily funded by a variety of dynamic and multi-dimensional funding sources (e.g., multiple contracts and grants, multiple non-state funding sources, receipt-based accounts, etc.). Require a thorough understanding of the applicable accounting and budgeting practices in order to contribute to budget development and/or capital expense proposals. Frequently serve as an internal resource on financial matters.
