Position Summary

The Associate Vice Chancellor for Planning, Performance, and Emerging Technologies will lead this new office within the University’s Business Affairs division. This office will develop and implement the division’s planning process to include department level, multi-year goal development, and input and outcome assessment of goal implementation strategies; develop and/or enhance the division’s business processes and procedures; implement financial controls and systems for optimized utilization; ensures resource stewardship and project capabilities; and, analyze current University business data and trends and translate them into actionable business intelligence that will help inform decision making by the VCBA and senior University leaders.

Reporting to the Vice Chancellor for Business Affairs, the AVC will lead the following individual functions: an existing systems and procedures function (including a Director and three Analysts), and a Senior Business Analyst, a new position that will assist with business intelligence and reporting and finance business analysis. Ultimately, the AVC position will direct an office that has campus-wide impact, is actively involved in formulating, implementing and interpreting procedures and processes, and exercises substantial independence of administrative authority and discretion in areas such as program planning and design and allocation of resources.

The AVC will align the division planning program with university and system strategic plans, to include meeting all planning accreditation requirements. The position will also develop and implement divisional performance program by identifying department key performance indicators; analyzing the relevant data; providing timely reports based on the analyses; and monitoring and tracking the implementation of the recommendations. Core initiatives include, but are not limited to, financial systems and procedures, business intelligence reporting, business process transformation planning, program planning and design, and performance management.

Minimum Qualifications

EHRA (EPA) non-faculty positions generally require post-baccalaureate credentials (e.g., Master’s degree or higher), although a bachelor’s degree plus alternative or equivalent professional training and experience may be substituted for the advanced degree.

Minimum 10 years of management-level experience in business, finance, planning and performance analytics, or a related field; bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting; and a CPA. The successful candidate will be financially and technologically savvy, innovative, customer focused, and a collaborative leader.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in a setting of similar scope and complexity of UNC at Greensboro with a particular preference for prior higher education experience and candidates who hold an MBA, Master of Accountancy or a similar field.
