Position Summary

The Department of Classical Studies invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, with open field of specialization, to begin August 1, 2018. Candidates must hold or anticipate a Ph.D. by the time of appointment. The Department offers an undergraduate major with concentrations in Classical archaeology, language & literature, and civilization, as well as teaching licensure in Latin. The ability to teach ancient Greek and/or Latin at all levels is desirable. We especially encourage applicants with cross-disciplinary interests and innovative approaches to the ancient world that will expand upon the current research and teaching interests in the department. Strong commitment to scholarship and publication is necessary as well as evidence of excellent teaching. The standard teaching load is 3:3.
