UNCG School of Nursing offers undergraduate and graduate degrees (BSN, MSN, MSN/MBA, DNP, PhD). The purpose of the School of Nursing is to provide for excellence of educational opportunity by adherence to the principles of the philosophy of the school and by the competence and dedication of its faculty and staff in preparing students to practice and to advance in professional nursing. We strive to offer programs of academic excellence to the end that the quality of health care provided for the citizens of North Carolina will be improved. The Business Office serves to coordinate SON business affairs; plan and conduct budget implementation, manage expenditures according to university, state, and funding source guidelines, policies and procedures, and prepare reports for a variety of constituencies.

The School of Nursing is currently seeking qualified candidates to consider for an Administrative Support Specialist position.

The major purpose of this position is to provide support and assistance to the Business Officer, Dean and School of Nursing to meet financial management best practices, budgetary and auditable expenditures including clerical duties and databases for the school. This involves working with Dean and supervisor to a) assist in maintaining budgets based on state and university policies and procedures; b) assist in the purchasing process for supplies and equipment; c) assist with reports in a timely, complete and accurate manner; and d) communicate in a collaborative and professional manner. The major responsibilities of this position are to assist with financial management of budgets for various funding state, trust and donor accounts and purchasing necessary supplies and equipment. Responsibilities include performing administrative support tasks, as well as explaining and interpreting program information to clients/ customers and staff. Clerical duties will include processing accounting forms such as BANFINs and travel forms as well as making copies and filing. The position requires multiple modes of communication with on campus and off campus persons, offices, and agencies. It is the staff member’s responsibility to support the Dean, Associate Deans, program directors and primarily the Business Officer in these activities. It is necessary for the person in this position to establish a satisfactory means of prioritizing work responsibilities in order to support the business affairs, financial management, assist other administrators, faculty, staff and students as needed and as assigned by the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR EQUIVALENCY AND ONE YEAR OF RELATED OFFICE EXPERIENCE; OR EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting or other related field. 3-5 years experience in administrative spport.
