Position Summary

The Division of Online Learning extends the resources of the University through traditional and non-traditional instructional programs conducted on and off campus, and online for local, regional, statewide, national and international audiences. While most programs offer academic credit , others are non-credit and are open to interested persons regardless of educational background.

The Instructional Technology Consultant, under the direction of the Senior Director, is responsible for facilitating instructional design, research and support for the Division. The ITC duties include the development, delivery, research and support of graduate, undergraduate and non-credit online learning courses targeted specifically to online. Principal responsibilities include collaborating with UNCG academic department faculty and instructional technology staff in developing online courses and interfacing with campus units that support online education.

Our team is a diverse group of educators, program managers, project managers, graphic and video artists, programmers, editors, customer service personnel, and financial and registration staff, who work in close contact to achieve the highest quality learning experiences possible throughout all of our programs.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree is required. The ITC must understand principles of learning, assessment, and the tools for measuring the effectiveness of implemented methods; recognize how design can influence and enhance learning; have a passion for innovation and learning; be able to think visually; write and communicate clearly and succinctly; create interactive learning materials such as case studies, simulations and educational games; demonstrate strong leadership, project management, and organizational skills; collaborate with others and work closely with teams to develop effective learning strategies; interact with internal and external clients; take the initiative on projects; visualize abstract and concrete concepts both critically and creatively. Proficiency in WordPress and Google Apps or Microsoft Office is essential. Familiarity with course management systems (e.g., Canvas), knowledge of Web authoring tools, Web development skills (e.g., HTML and CSS) and an awareness of Web-based tools and social media applications would be beneficial.

Preferred Qualifications

A Master’s degree is preferred. Experience with project management software such as Basecamp, Wrike, or Microsoft Project is preferred.
