Position Summary

The College of Visual and Performing Arts is currently seeking qualified candidates to consider for Student Services Specialist to supports all Arts Education Programs housed within the CVPA. The primary tasks include:
1. To serve as liaison from CVPA to School of Education
2. Facilitate student teaching placements during Arts Education students’ senior year or final semester of enrollment. These placements include extensive emails, phone calls, and placement paperwork.
3. Facilitate field experience placements of Arts Education students from freshman through senior years of enrollment. These placements include extensive emails, phone calls, and placement paperwork.
4. North Carolina Schools now require background checks of each student teacher and pre-student teacher working within the schools. Facilitate the public school’s receipt of results of background checks of each Arts Education student placed in a student teaching or pre-student teaching practicum.
5. Coordinate EdTPA functions as coordinated with the School of Education; provide EdTPA training to CVPA faculty and staff as needed.
6. Assist Faculty with the administration and review of the Teacher Growth and Assessment Preservice (TGAP) three (3) times across each Arts Education student’s degree program from sophomore through senior year. Each TGAP administration requires reviews and evaluations across 18 areas of preservice-teacher growth for each student. These results must be recorded and reported to the School of Education Office of Student Service and Advising. All TGAP results and documents also must be included within each students’ capstone Portfolio. Results of the TGAP are used for licensure purposes and reviewed during NCATE reaccreditation evaluations (i.e., CAEP reaccreditation in the future).
7. Assist Faculty with the administration and review of the Candidate Dispositions Assessment Process (CDAP) three (3) times across each Arts Education student’s degree program from second-semester sophomore through senior year. Each CDAP administration requires reviews and evaluations across nine (9) areas of disposition development for each student. These results must be recorded and reported to the School of Education Office of Student Service and Advising. All TGAP results and documents also must be included within each students’ capstone Portfolio. Results of the CDAP are used for licensure purposes and reviewed during NCATE reaccreditation purposes (i.e., CAEP reaccreditation in the future).
8. Assist with development of all MUE students’ capstone Portfolio from their freshman through senior years of undergraduate study of MUE. This work involves reviewing and providing feedback on students’ continuous submissions and resubmissions of written reflections, teaching videos, lesson plans, and measurements/assessments across six areas of standards
9. Coordinate interviews for undergraduate and graduate Music Education applicants.
10. Other assignments as needed by CVPA Arts Education faculty.

Minimum Qualifications

BACHELOR’S DEGREE; OR EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE. ALL DEGREES MUST BE RECEIVED FROM APPROPRIATELY ACCREDITED INSTITUTIONS.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in the areas of Art, Dance, Music and Theatre Education.
