Position Summary

The Career Services Center is the central hub for the career and professional development of students at UNCG. Through our services, programs, and campus partnerships, our Career Team assists in developing individualized career plans to maximize successful candidates.

Purpose of Position:
This position reports to the Associate Director, Employer Relations, and develops intensive, focused, and purposeful relationships with external partners for the creation of new internships and experiential learning opportunities. Position will create, coordinate, and implement programs to positively affect employer retention and as well as manage efforts to increase the number of quality full-time and internship opportunities provided for UNCG students.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to work with individuals and groups and prepare and deliver presentations.
  • Must be proficient with technology such as Symplicity, or other recruitment related software and interested in identifying and adopting technological advances in the field.
  • Should be familiar with social media tools including Linkedin.
  • Well-developed interpersonal marketing and communications skills.
  • Must be able to make decisions and work independently, as well as in team situations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. External Relationship Management/Business Development (50%)
    • Owns responsibility for employer relationships, to include developing a clear understanding for key employers recruiting needs, hiring cycles and creating opportunities to connect their opportunities with UNCG students and faculty.
    • Proactively initiates outreach to key organizations with hiring needs that align closely with the skill sets developed within UNCG programs to develop lasting partnerships and recruiting pipelines, and
      per cycle.
    • Takes initiative to provide high-touch customer service to key employers and works to increase the number of collect hiring data (interview, offer, acceptance rates) per cycle.
    • Takes initiative to provide high-touch customer service to key employers and works to increase the number of quality internship and full-time job postings offered to UNCG students per academic year through SpartanCareers.
    • Spearheads the development of on and off campus recruiting opportunities and professional development experiences.
    • Support the Employer Relations Team in managing and contributing to all recruiting efforts, including OCR and annual Career Fairs.
  2. Internal Stakeholder Management (40%)
    • Partners with liaisons from Career Development team to provide employer exposure and recruiting opportunities to faculty and departments across campus.
    • Conducts data mining for lead generation for internships and jobs relevant to the UNCG population through review of print, electronic, and related media job sites. Includes contact with off-campus employers.
    • Develops understanding of student organizations and departments within Student Affairs to deliver collaborative, intersectional programming.
  3. Specialized Projects/Other Responsibilities (10%)
    • Researches and stays informed on hiring practices, employment trends and other labor related issues.
    • Reviews and approves job postings, informational session requests, and on-campus recruitment requests as needed.
    • Assists the career team in other projects assigned.
    • Assists in the collection of relevant data to support office trending analysis, reports and student learning.
    • Participates in University events including orientations, open house and other functions to promote and represent the Career Services Center.
    • Manages the internship scholarship process and interviews.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s in Human Resources, Business Development, Marketing, or other relevant degree required.
  • 1 year of full time experience in Career Services, Recruiting, or HR environment strongly preferred.
  • Experience developing/managing educational and training events and programs.
