The University of North Carolina at Greensboro supports students with intellectual and developmental disabilities enrolled in Integrative Community Studies (ICS), a four-year certificate course of study that emphasizes higher education, self-determination, community inclusion, career development and independent living. Students completing requirements for graduation receive a certificate awarded by The Office of the Provost at UNCG. Beyond Academics is a 501©(3) nonprofit partner of the university that provides support and services for enrolled students. The primary purpose of this position is to coordinate academic supports for students within the Integrative Community Studies program offered by the Office of the Provost that reflect inclusive participation in University coursework, as well as provision of instruction and academic support to prepare students with knowledge necessary to live fully in their community of choice after graduation.
This position requires a Master’s Degree in related area such as Specialized Education or Bachelor’s degree and 5 years experience in the field of special education and/or the area of intellectual/developmental disabilities. The Coordinator must have a proven record of the implementation of academic supports within the framework of universal design. A valid driver’s license is required and associated automobile insurance coverage. Flexible work hours are required to meet the student needs.
Experience with higher education with the intellectual and developmentally disabled population preferred.
