Position Summary

The purpose of the UNCG Financial Aid Office is to provide students and their families with the resources necessary for financing the pursuit of higher education. Funding options administered by the FAO include need-based, non-need based, grant, scholarship, loan, work study, federal,state, institutional, and outside monies. ln addition, the primary purposes of the FAO are:

  • to develop policy and implement procedures that work with regulatory
    compliance for the $180,000,000 in financial aid assistance administered yearly
    by the University.
  • to assist in realizing the mission and ideals of the University.
  • to offer effective and timely communication of financial aid eligibility criteria and
    receipt guidelines to the entire University community.
  • to work to provide a quality environment and enriching experience to all members
    of the University community.
  • to work collaboratively with other university offices to achieve success of
    university.
  • goals in recruitment, retention, and graduation rates with respect to our policies
    and procedures.

The major purposes of this position will be coordination and administration of all efforts associated with supervision of senior staff, strategic scholarship cohort development, compliance with federal and state regulations, outreach and consumer information, gainful employment reporting, financial literacy, Title IV Program Participation Agreements, and Long-range planning and goal-setting for the office. This position will also work with the university community to meet the goals of the Enrollment Management division.

This position will also include other duties as assigned by the Director. This position serves in a role which has authority to make changes to ensure the Financial Aid Office is in compliance and works for the best interest of the organization and the university. This position serves to keep a student-centered operation that assists students when contacted by phone, in person, social media, and via email, special emphasis will be placed on developing
communication and cohorts with scholarship recipients. Long-range planning and short term goal setting will be part of this positions’ duties. This position will share in the responsibility for communicating with federal and state agencies to help remain in compliance.

Minimum Qualifications

A successful candidate will have specialized financial aid experience and be a progressively responsible leader who does not need a great deal of supervision. A Bachelor’s Degree is required for this position; a Master’s Degree is preferred.
This is a leadership position and the successful candidate will not require
a lot of direct guidance. The person in this position will be responsible for many areas in the office and will need to be productive, self-motivated and not require a lot of supervision.
