Position Summary

The African American and African Diaspora Studies Program (AADS) advances the university’s commitment to diverse perspectives and inclusive learning environments through course offerings, programming, and community engagement. It fosters interdisciplinary study for undergraduate and post-baccalaureate students by examining how people of African descent have shaped our world. As a program located in a city with a history of Black sociopolitical movements, we provide a forum to engage the complexities of Black life across African diasporas.

AADS is currently seeking qualified candidates to consider for a University Program Associate position.

This position provides support to the Program Director, faculty, and students.

Responsibilities include:

  • Coordination of programmatic activities including the Program’s annual conference that registers an average of 200 people each year;
  • Completion of payroll and personnel documents
  • Budget and disperse funds from multiple accounts
  • Maintaining several financial accounts and completing and processing financial forms;
  • Establishing and maintaining effective communication with students, faculty, and external partners and visitors
  • Updating publicity documents and placing information on the Program’s website
  • Assisting the director with reports when needed
  • Supervising student workers
  • Position is an 11-month position*
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to use Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Excel.
  • Four year degree;
  • Experience with budgets
  • Experience working in an academic setting;
  • Experience with Banner
  • Experience in using digital media in a professional environment.
Alternate Option

Ability to use applicable data management systems to maintain, manage, and monitor data for assigned program area(s). Ability to gather program data and information, including financial information, and compile standard reports based on specific requests.
