Position Summary

The School of Education’s Office of Student Services supports student completion of program and licensure requirements through a variety of services. The office collaborates with state agencies, area school districts, and faculty to determine and create activities and functions best suited for this purpose. One such function is the creation of a recruitment plan for teacher education.

In order to meet enrollment and productivity targets for teacher preparation programs, a significant increase in the amount of time and effort devoted to recruitment efforts across all initial teacher preparation programs will be required. The Office of Student Services therefore seeks a recruitment officer who will have primary responsibility for leading and coordinating recruitment of students. Under the supervision of the Director of Student Services, this individual will:

Lead professional education recruitment efforts, with an emphasis on recruiting
candidates to initial teaching licensure programs. Activities will include,
but not be limited to the following;

  • Identifying potential applicant pools;
  • Participating in the development and implementation of recruitment programs, events, and materials;
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships to meet recruitment goals;
  • Collecting and report data about recruitment efforts and outcomes;
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree with major in education, communication, public relations or a related field and three (3) years professional experience.

  • Knowledge and skill with outreach venues, including social media;
  • Ability to develop outreach materials for a variety of audiences and media;
  • Knowledge about teacher education and regional employment needs;
  • Ability to speak and write clearly about professional education;
  • Ability to collaborate and engage in interactions with others;
  • Ability to maintain recruitment systems and reports for screening and tracking
    potential candidates;
  • Ability to evaluate impact of recruitment activities;
  • Commitment to professional education and to access and equity.
