Grants Specialist

The Office of Contracts and Grants is a division of Financial Services and is the administrative responsibility of the Associate Vice Chancellor for Finance. This unit is responsible for coordinating the administration and financial management of all contract and grant funds awarded to the University, and currently manages over 400 grant funds and $35 million of research funding per year, as well as, interacting with any faculty member who is seeking extramural research support (pre-award) or who has had research funded (post-award).

The Office of Contract and Grants is currently seeking qualified candidates to consider for an Accountant position.

During day-to-day operations in the Office of Contracts & Grants, staff have many decisions to make regarding compliance with terms, allowable costs, entering grant data to Banner, how to process forms, review of proposal budgets and collections. Position is responsible for Establishing Banner grant file, establishing fund setup with the Controller’s Office, composing new award memorandums, consulting with PI and Departmental Admins at new award meetings and providing necessary training concerning award management. Position entails grant monitoring and fiscal management, budget control, invoicing and financial reporting, collections and receivables management, monitoring and reporting of cost share expenditures and closeout of grant/fund.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree with 12 credit hours of accounting coursework; or Associate’s degree in accounting; or Associate’s degree in business or related discipline with 12 credit hours of accounting coursework; or equivalent combination of training and experience. all degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Ability to recognize and respond to unusual activity. May require the ability to make corrections related to unusual activities.
